I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. Three great English teachers at Bellbrook High School showed me that I loved storytelling and film. At Otterbein University I studied photography and studio art, and that’s where I learned to find and appreciate light. In my sophomore year I asked a favorite professor what I needed to do in order to teach and help guide other peoples’ creativity and he told me to start by earning my MFA. I took his advice and studied film at the California Institute of the Arts. At CalArts I focused on documentary and experimental filmmaking and earned my MFA in Film/Video. After graduation I moved to New York City where I’ve discovered a new passion: photojournalism. I will continue finding light, telling stories, and documenting my world in the future.
